Royal Malaysian Customs MOU With Universiti Utara Malaysia

“FROM BARRIER TO OPPORTUNITY”

Background Of The Programme:

The effort to establish a collaborative programme with an institution of higher Learning was inspired by the Director General of Customs who was also the Director of the Royal Malaysian Customs Academy (AKMAL) at that point of time. In 2004, effort to implement this programme was restarted with Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). As a start, the department organized a workshop to develop the subject of Customs as a body of knowledge to be implemented with UUM. In addition efforts were made towards the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with UUM. Under this programmes at certificate, diploma, bachelor’s master’s and doctorate levels are introduced.

Objectives Of This Programme:
  • Enhance customs study as a discipline of knowledge within the national education mainstream in order to produce a Customs Literate Society
  • Prepare more knowledgeable and qualified officers to lead the Department in the future. Introduce the concept of the life long learning Customs personnel and members of the public
  • Produce human resources equipped with knowledge in broader fields of commerce in the context of the Customs in order to provide more opportunities for career advancement.

Implementation Entry Requirements Of Candidates Certificate Programme:

  • Undergraduates of public or private institutions of higher learning who wish to participate in this programme should hold a Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia certificate with Credit in Malay Language and a pass in Mathematics and English. Other requirements will be determined by UMM.
  • The selection panel for this programme is UUM.

Customs Agent Basic Course Certificate Programme:

  • Undergraduates of public or private institutions of higher learning who wish to participate in this programme should hold a Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia certificate with Credit in Malay Language and a pass in Mathematics and English. Other requirements will be determined by UMM.
  • Members of the public who wish to participate in this programme should hold a Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia certificate with Credit in Malay Language and a pass in Mathematics and English and posses five (5) years experience in Customs work. Other requirements will be determined by UMM.
  • The selection panel for this programme is The Royal Malaysian Customs Academy.

Diploma Or Bachelor's Or Postgraduate Programme:

Customs personnel who wish to participate in this programme should meet the requirements stipulated by the department and UUM the chairman of the selection panel for this programme is the Director General of Customs
