Terengganu Customs make seizures worth RM556, 000

KUALA TERENGGANU, 10 Feb (Bernama) - Terengganu Malaysia Royal Customs Department successfully seized various items that have not passed the Customs value is RM556, 000 to RM1.1 million tax during the first two months of this year.

State Customs Director Datuk Azis Yacub said smoking is the most goods seized five cases involving worth RM271, 912 with tax RM943, 531.

"In addition, we have seized three vehicles involving three cases and worth RM93, 000 with tax involved RM136, 735, while the fireworks, a case with the value of RM191, 400 with tax involved amounted to RM116, 317 and rice, a case involving value of RM330 to RM214 tax involved.

"Number of persons detained during the first two months of the year eight people. They were detained for several offenses under the Customs Act 1967," he told reporters after the opening ceremony Customs Enforcement office here on Wednesday.

But he urged people not to be involved in any smuggling activity, distribution and sale of goods has not passed the Customs because it is an offense and may be prosecuted in accordance with the Customs Act 1967.

By that act, if convicted, be fined not less than 10 times the value of goods and not more than 20 times the value of goods or three years imprisonment or both.

Earlier he also submit to Customs the right vehicle lucut five Pusat Giat Mara, including schools and a university college.

Five schools are Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Technical Endowments Tembesu who receive three vehicles, SMK Kijal Kendari (a), SMK Teknik Dungun (three), SMK Sultan Omar, Dungun (two) Pusat Giat Mara and Mount Umbrella ( two), while University College tati (TATiUC) received four vehicles.
